Health Bridge for Running is an iOS and watchOS app that exports the HealthKit metrics runners care about to iCloud, so the data can be used outside the Health app. It is currently in TestFlight beta.
What it does
Health Bridge reads a fixed catalogue of HealthKit metrics — resting heart rate, HRV (SDNN), blood oxygen, respiratory rate, VO₂ max, sleeping wrist temperature and sleep analysis — and writes them as export files to your iCloud container, keeping a history of every export with its source (iPhone or Watch) and metric count.
- Overview panel: one card per metric with the latest value and the 14-day trend.
- Per-metric detail: a chart (line for quantities, stacked stages for sleep), statistics (latest, average, min, max) and every exported entry.
- History and Last export screens, plus a background task so exports do not depend on opening the app.
- App Shortcuts expose the export as an intent you can run from Shortcuts or Siri.
- Apple Watch companion that can trigger and store exports from the wrist.
- Adaptive layout: sidebar plus detail side by side on wide screens, free orientation on iPhone and iPad.
In development. The current build (1.0) targets iOS 27 and watchOS 27 and is distributed through TestFlight; the App Store listing is not public yet.
Who it is for
Runners who track recovery and fitness in Apple Health but want the raw numbers somewhere they can analyse, chart or feed into their own tooling — a spreadsheet, a notebook, a homelab dashboard — without a third-party service in the middle.
Privacy and data
The app reads HealthKit on the device and writes the export files to your own iCloud container; there is no server operated by the developer and no account beyond your Apple ID. Access to each HealthKit metric is granted by you through the standard iOS permission prompt.
Frequently asked questions
What does Health Bridge export?
A fixed set of HealthKit metrics that matter for running and recovery: resting heart rate, heart rate variability (SDNN), blood oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, VO₂ max, sleeping wrist temperature and sleep analysis. Each export is written as a file to your iCloud container and logged in the app’s history with its source (iPhone or Watch) and the number of metrics it contained. The Overview shows the latest value and 14-day trend per metric.
Where does the exported data go?
To your own iCloud container, as files you can open from other apps or your Mac. There is no server run by the developer and no third-party service: the app reads HealthKit on the device with the permissions you grant and saves the export to iCloud. That is the whole point of the app — getting your Health data out of the Health app without handing it to anyone.
Can I automate the export?
Yes. Health Bridge registers App Shortcuts, so the export is available as an action in the Shortcuts app and via Siri, and it schedules a background task so exports do not depend on you opening the app. The Apple Watch companion can also trigger an export and store it from the wrist.
