Reverie Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
Reverie Immich Frame (“Reverie”) is an ambient photo frame for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch whose photos come from an Immich server you host yourself. Reverie has no server or backend of its own, runs no analytics or tracking, and does not collect, sell, or share any personal data. There is no Reverie account and nothing to sign up for.
Where your photos go
Photos and videos travel directly from your own Immich server to your device, and nowhere else. Reverie never uploads, copies or forwards them to any other place. It only reads: it cannot change or delete anything in your library.
What Reverie stores, and where
- Your server address and an Immich API key. When you sign in with email and password, Reverie uses them once to ask your server for an API key limited to reading (
asset.read,asset.view,album.read,user.read), keeps only that key and throws the password away. The key is stored in the iOS/iPadOS Keychain, marked as synchronizable so your own iCloud Keychain can carry it to your other devices — end-to-end encrypted by Apple. It is sent nowhere except to the server it belongs to. - Your list of servers (address, the Immich user name, and when you last signed in) syncs between your own devices through iCloud key-value storage in your own Apple Account — not through any server of mine. I have no access to it. It never contains a password or a key.
- Your settings (timing, frames, filters, the albums you picked) stay on the device.
- A small cache of thumbnails (about thirty) is kept on the device so the widgets and the Apple Watch can show photos without a network connection. The iPhone sends them to your paired Apple Watch directly, together with the server address and the key, so the watch can refresh on its own.
Local network
During setup Reverie can look for Immich servers on your Wi-Fi, so you can pick one instead of typing its address. That search stays on your local network and only happens while the setup screen asks for it.
Third parties
Reverie integrates no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting SDKs, and contacts no server other than the Immich servers you add.
Purchases
Reverie Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple. I receive no name, no email address and no payment details — only a receipt signed by Apple, which the app verifies on the device.
Deleting everything
- Signing out in Reverie’s settings removes every server and key, on every device that shares your iCloud.
- Deleting the app removes the settings and the thumbnail cache from the device.
- Reverie’s API keys can also be revoked from your Immich server (Account Settings → API Keys); they are named Reverie (device name).
Children
Reverie is not directed to children under 13, and collects no data from anyone of any age.
