Reverie Support

Reverie Immich Frame turns your own Immich photo library into a calm ambient slideshow on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. It is not a photo service: with no Immich server to connect to, it has nothing to show.

  • What you were trying to do
  • What happened instead
  • Your device model, its iOS/iPadOS/watchOS version, and your Immich version

Getting started

  1. Open Reverie and type your Immich server address, or pick it from the list if it is on the same Wi-Fi.
  2. Sign in with your Immich email and password. Reverie asks your server for a read-only API key and forgets the password. You can also paste an API key you created yourself.
  3. Tap Start ambient mode. Tap or swipe to go forward or back; swipe down to leave.

Frequently asked questions

  • What do I need? An Immich server (tested with Immich 3.x) reachable from the device — on your home network, through a VPN, or on the internet.
  • “Could not connect”. Check that the server opens in Safari on the same device and network. Plain http:// addresses on your local network are allowed. A TLS certificate the device does not trust will fail.
  • Ambient mode is empty. Check the filters in Settings: a favourites-only filter or an album with no photos leaves nothing to show.
  • Can I pick which photos appear? Yes: one or several albums, favourites only, and (with Pro) photos, videos or both.
  • Does the screen stay on? Yes, while ambient mode is open. On an iPad on a stand, or an iPhone in StandBy, it becomes a photo frame.
  • iPhone Duo. Reverie follows the shape of the screen: two portrait photos side by side on a wide screen, two landscapes stacked on a tall one, and tabletop mode (photo on top, clock and controls below) when the phone stands half-folded.
  • The widget or the watch shows old photos. They draw from a small cache the iPhone refreshes. Open Reverie, or use Settings → Refresh watch & widget photos.
  • Another device asks me to sign in again. The list of servers travels through iCloud and the key through the iCloud Keychain, which can take a moment. Reverie shows “Waiting for iCloud” meanwhile; make sure iCloud Keychain is on.
  • Is anything uploaded? No. Photos go from your server to your device and nowhere else. See the privacy policy below.

What is free, and what is Reverie Pro

Free, and staying free: full-screen ambient mode with one server; album, favourites and photo filters; crossfade and Ken Burns; clock, date and place; the layout that follows the screen and iPhone Duo tabletop mode; and a small home screen widget.

Reverie Pro is an optional one-time purchase (no subscription, restorable, Family Sharing on) that adds:

  • The Apple Watch app and its complications
  • Medium and large widgets, and Reverie in StandBy
  • Several Immich servers, synced between your devices through your iCloud
  • Gallery mat, polaroid and card frames, and slide, zoom, random and cut transitions
  • Videos in the slideshow

To restore it on a new device: Settings → Restore purchase. The Apple Watch unlocks with the iPhone.

Privacy

Reverie has no server of its own and collects no data. See the Reverie Privacy Policy.
